Wells leads in Mur­rumbidgee

The pro­gres­sive vote count for Mur­rumbidgee Coun­cil’s Mur­rumbidgee ward yes­ter­day had for­mer Mur­rumbidgee Shire coun­cil­lor Phillip Wells at the top of tally.

With 602 of a pos­si­ble 892 votes counted at the time of go­ing to print yes­ter­day, Mr Wells held 32.6 per cent of the vote with 192 first pref­er­ences.

Not too far be­hind was fel­low for­mer coun­cil­lor Robert Cur­phey, who had 26.32 per cent of the vote yes­ter­day (155 votes) and then Gavin Gil­bert with 101, Paul Good­sall with 73, Gor­don Beau­mont with 41 and Al­lan Stra­chan with 27.

The re­sults will de­ter­mine the fi­nal three coun­cil­lors, with no elec­tion in Jer­ilderie and Mur­rumbidgee East wards. Ruth McRae, Gaila Smith and Faith Bryce, and Austin Evans, Robert Black and Chris­tine Chirg­win are au­to­mat­i­cally elected.
