Sus­pi­cious house fire

Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing what they have deemed to be a sus­pi­cious fire at an un­oc­cu­pied prop­erty in Coree St, Fin­ley on Sun­day morn­ing.

Fin­ley NSW Fire & Res­cue was called to the prop­erty at 12.30am after a neigh­bour raised the alarm.

Fire­fight­ers took 15 min­utes to ex­tin­guish the fire, which caused heavy smoke dam­age.

Nei­ther po­lice or fire author­i­ties were able to pro­vide fur­ther in­for­ma­tion be­fore go­ing to print yes­ter­day.

A Bat­low man has been charged with nu­mer­ous of­fences after al­legedly steal­ing a car and a num­ber of other items from a Jer­ilderie busi­ness.

Po­lice al­lege the 28 year-old scaled the fence of the Ma­honga St busi­ness.

He is then al­leged to have loaded a num­ber of items into a ve­hi­cle be­long­ing to the busi­ness, prior to ram­ming it through se­cure fenc­ing and driv­ing away.

The stolen ve­hi­cle was later lo­cated dumped in Jer­ilderie St, Jer­ilderie.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions led po­lice to a Powell St home in Jer­ilderie on Sun­day af­ter­noon, where they al­lege to have seen a man load­ing sev­eral items into a ve­hi­cle.

They were later dis­cov­ered to be some of the items re­ported stolen.

The man was ar­rested and charged, pend­ing a Fin­ley Lo­cal Court ap­pear­ance.

All the stolen items were re­cov­ered.
