Fin­ley Fol­low­ing last year’s wet weather aban­don­ment the 17th Out­back Golf Chal­lenge hit-off in per­fect con­di­tions for the Mixed 4BBB event played at the Fin­ley, Jer­ilderie and Berrigan Golf Club’s over the long week­end.

The week­end saw 44 cou­ples from var­i­ous Golf clubs in South Aus­tralia, Vic­to­ria and NSW as well as lo­cal area clubs take part.

On Satur­day, Fin­ley hosted the first day of the Daw­mac In­dus­tries 2017 Out­back Golf Chal­lenge and it was Martin Pig­gin and Jenni Cor­co­ran (Fin­ley) with 47 sta­ble­ford points who claimed the day’s win­ner’s tro­phy.

Bill and Kath Wil­liams (Jer­ilderie) with 45 points were run­ners-up and Barry Fa­hey and Joanne Dean (Fin­ley) after a three-way count­back on 44 points fin­ished in third place.

Men’s NTP on the 3rd was Brian Wil­son (Jer­ilderie) and the 11th was John Bakker (Mooroopna).

Ladies NTP on the 11th was Ma­ree Ci­avarella (Rich River) and on the 18th Jan Al­bor­ough (Stawell).

Balls went to 13 cou­ples with 39 points or bet­ter while the NAGA tro­phy was awarded to Garry and Pam Jolly (Bar­won Val­ley) .

Sun­day saw the sec­ond round played at Jer­ilderie and it was John and Gail Arthur (Corowa) with 45 points who were the day’s win­ners.

Ken Barnes (Victor Har­bour SA) and Ma­ree Ryan (Berrigan) with 44 points were run­ners-up and Bill and Kath Wil­liams (Jer­ilderie) with 43 points fin­ished in third place.

The third and fi­nal day moved to Berrigan on Mon­day when Don and Chris­tine Per­rett (Leon­gatha) with 46 points were the day’s win­ners.

After a count­back on 45 points it was Peter and Elaine Zotti ( Wagga) who were run­ners up and Ken Barnes (Victor Har­bour SA) and Ma­ree Ryan (Berrigan) fin­ished in third place.

After the three days, out­right win­ners with 130 Points were Bill and Kath Wil­liams and sec­ond were Ken Barnes and Ma­ree Ryan with 127.

After count­back on 125 Points, third place went to Don and Chris­tine Per­rett and in fourth were Ross Lacy and Betty Cranston (Co­bram).

Plans are al­ready un­der way for the 2018 Out­back Golf Chal­lenge

On Wed­nes­day’s Deni Car­pet Care men’s sta­ble­ford event at Fin­ley Golf Club, Billy Smith slipped in with 41 points to claim the voucher.

Gerry Law­son (Jer­ilderie) took NTP on the 18th and balls went to Trevor McCaw (39), Martin Cruick­shank (39), Mark O’Brien (36), Barry Fa­hey (38) and Rand Wil­son (38).

An­drew Hig­gins took the Matt Daniel Plumbing NAGA tro­phy.

Rand Wil­son with 29 net stepped into the win­ner’s cir­cle when stroke was played at the last nine-hole comp for the win­ter sea­son on Thurs­day.

Balls went to Leo McNa­mara (301⁄ Martin Cruick­shank (311⁄ and An­drew Hig­gins (311⁄

Sun­day was the Fin­ley Floor­ing Xtra sta­ble­ford day, see­ing Paul Pin­nuck with 40 points take the men’s tro­phy. Ladies’ win­ner was Julie O’Brien with 36 points.

NTP on the 18th was An­drew Harding and on the 13th Jenni Cor­co­ran.

Balls went to Mark O’Brien (38), Doug Smith (37), Billy Smith (37), Jason Pyle (36), Mar­garet Lem­s­ing (35) and Anne Harding (35).

An­drew Harding and Sue Simp­son re­ceived NAGA Tro­phies.

The fi­nal day of a long week­end of golf on Mon­day was the WD & AJ Lang stroke event and it was Rand Wil­son with 69 net who took the men’s tro­phy.

Mary Polk­inghorne’s 67 net gave her the ladies tro­phy and her 29 putts the ladies putting tro­phy.

NTP on the 18th went to Trevor McCaw and balls went to Trevor McCaw (71), Sue Simp­son (71), Barry Fa­hey (72) and Kath Klemke (72). Ray He­hir claimed the NAGA Tro­phy.

Dur­ing the month of October by just play­ing in the Thurs­day 9 Hole Com­peti- tion golfers be­come el­i­gi­ble to win a ‘money can’t buy’ trip to the 2017 Emi­rates Aus­tralian Open.

There will be no golf at Fin­ley at the week­end as the course will be closed for the greens to be cored.

A re­minder that the McDon­ald’s team day is on Fri­day October 20, at 9am for 9.30 start.

Tocumwal On Wed­nes­day we had 100 men play­ing two-man ag­gre­gate sta­ble­ford that saw Di­vi­sion One go­ing to Colin Mawd­s­ley and Mick Keen with 78 points fol­lowed by Ian McFar­lane and Paul Olsen 75.

NTPs went to Brent Huckel 2nd, Michael Cooper 8th, Ken­neth McCor­mack Pro Pin $100.

Fri­day was the first day of our Spring Tour­na­ment that saw 69 ladies play­ing sta­ble­ford with Di­vi­sion One go­ing to He­len Pas­coe (Buniny­ong GC) 35 points, runner-up went to Claire Per­ston 34. Di­vi­sion Two was won by Enid Bain (Fin­ley GC) on 38 points, fol­lowed by Lee An­drews (Lang Lang GC) 36. Nola Whit­ford was the Di­vi­sion Three win­ner with 34 points on count­back from Gayle Ed­wards.

NTPs went to Pauline Grooby 2nd, Chris­tine Wil­son 17th.

In a field of 73 men, Ross Side­bot­tom took out Di­vi­sion One with 41 points fol­lowed by Nick De­hey 39. Di­vi­sion Two went to Greg Cooney (Koorin­gal GC) with 45 points and runner-up was Ivan Talan (Com­mer­cial Re­sort) 35. Di­vi­sion Three went to Stephen Deni­son on 44 points with Shane Fouls (Ross­dale GC) tak­ing runner-up with 38. NTPs went to Greg Cooney 2nd, David Waters 17th.

Satur­day was Mixed 4BBB Par that saw C. Wil­son and R. Wil­son (Box Hill GC) tak­ing first place with 9-up on count­back from Foots and Howe (Ross­dale GC).

Sun­day was 4BBB sta­ble­ford saw Lewis and Barnes tak­ing first place with 44 points fol­lowed by Baen­sch and Pegg who had 43.

Men’s 4BBB win­ners were Gibbs and Free­stone on 43 points fol­lowed by Jim Wil­liams and Shane Hal­lo­ran who had 42 pts on count­back.
