Family festival

Southern Riverina news - - FINCITY FOOD & MUSIC FEST -

You can get a real taste for Finley and the wider Southern Riverina at this Saturday’s inaugural FinCity Music and Food Festival.

The twilight event will be held in Finley’s Railway Park, starting from 5pm and running through until about 9pm.

Free to attend, the event will feature food and market stalls and a eclectic mix of musical performances.

The food and music will be the backdrop to the Finley Farmers’ Market, which has moved its normal timeslot to fit in with the new festival idea.

Finley Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture president Gary Carr said it will be the ‘‘perfect event’’ for people of all ages.

‘‘This is an exciting way to show off the local food and music this great town boasts,’’ he said.

‘‘It’s the perfect chance to bring a chair or picnic rug and sit back and relax with some delicious gourmet cuisine from a huge variety of our local food stalls.

‘‘Railway Park is the picture-perfect setting for FinCity, which will be combined with a farmers’ market atmosphere.

‘‘We’re hoping to make FinCity a permanent fixture on the Finley spring calendar.

‘‘FinCity will also show the hard work and commitment that the Finley community has for the town.’’

Specifically catering for the younger members of our community, Biralee Preschool will be hosting a range of children’s activities at the event.

It will include science experiments, bubble blowing and plaster work.

The weather prediction for the inaugural event is looking very bright, with Elders Weather predicting a sunny day with a top of 25°C.
