Bray­den Carey earned the ti­tle of best bat­ting per­for­mance dur­ing Murray Val­ley Cricket As­so­ci­a­tion Pre­mier Di­vi­sion’s round one ac­tion.

The Waaia first-drop smashed an un­beaten 124 to help his side record a strong to­tal of 7-222 from its 45 overs against Kata­matite.

Tom Pendle­bury was the best bowler for the Tigers with 2-31, while An­drew Erick­son (2-50) also snared two wick­ets.

Erick­son backed up his bowl­ing per­for­mance with 64 at the top of Kata­matite’s or­der, but no team­mate could man­age more than 15 runs, and the side could only man­age 9-134.

Jor­dan Clee­land (3-30) and Se­bas­tian Moore (2-23) were the best bowlers for the vic­tors.

In the re­main­ing game, Ba­rooga handed Co­bram a loss in the sea­son-opener, de­spite Adam Dec­cico’s un­beaten knock of 64.

An im­pres­sive knock of 70 by Hawks opener Sam Leigh helped steer his side to a 26 run win.
