Rory’s top catch

Southern Riverina news - - BULLETIN BOARD -

A sunny morning was the perfect backdrop for 62 keen young anglers who turned out to the Jerilderie Kids Fishing Day on Sunday, October 15.

A total of 13 fish were caught from Jerilderie Lake including four carp, four yellow belly and five catfish.

Jerilderie Fishing Club president Andrew Bell said they were blessed with kind weather.

‘‘It was a nice day for a fish and the kids had a great time. Usually we have a lower number of entrants so to have as many as we did, we’re very happy about that.

‘‘No-one really knew there were catfish in the lake, so I was quite surprised that five were caught.’’

The overall winner on the day was Rory Knight, who managed to land a 48cm yellow belly.

The next major Jerilderie Fishing Club event will be the release of 8000 cod in the Billabong Creek in December.

Zara and Stella Williams with a 61cm carp caught during the competition.
