Si­enna shines at state

The NSW Pri­mary School Ath­let­ics car­ni­val was held on Wed­nes­day and Thurs­day at Syd­ney Olympic Park Ath­letic Cen­tre.

More than 2500 pri­mary ed­u­ca­tion stu­dents from across the state com­pete at this event and six stu­dents from four lo­cal schools rep­re­sented the South­ern Rive­rina.

Fin­ley Pub­lic School’s Si­enna Bourke com­peted in three events and best per­formed in the 11 year-old girls high jump fin­ish­ing 7th with a 1.4 me­tre jump.

Si­enna also com­peted in the 800m and long jump, fin­ish­ing 28th and 32nd re­spec­tively.

Also rep­re­sent­ing Fin­ley Pub­lic School were Josie Coombs, Jai Sned­don and Jas­mine Bourke.

Josie fin­ished 31st in the 200m 11yo girls pre­lim­i­nary run­ning a time of 30.70 sec­onds, Jai ran a fast 15.81 sec­onds in the 9yo boys 100 pre­lim­i­nary how­ever fin­ished 39th and Jas­mine threw 18.62 me­tres in the 11yo girls dis­cus fin­ish­ing 33rd.

Lucy Simp­son was the only rep­re­sen­ta­tive from Jer­ilderie, how­ever cer­tainly put in her best ef­forts.

Lucy ran a time of 14.60 sec­onds in the 12yo girls 100m pre­lim­i­nary, fin­ish­ing 36th and jumped 1.25 me­tres in the 12-13yo girls se­nior high jump, fin­ish­ing 35th.

Tocumwal Pub­lic School’s Mac Eddy came 20th in the 11yo boys shot put throw­ing a re­spectable 10.32 me­tres and Sa­cred Heart’s Kate Pur­till fell just shy of her per­sonal best of 19.7 me­tres with a 19.0 me­tre throw, fin­ish­ing 27th in the 8-10yo ju­nior girls.

No stu­dents from Ber­ri­gan com­peted at the event.
