Sex­ton a life mem­ber

For­mer Fin­ley Cats netball leg­end Di Sex­ton has ex­tended on her im­pres­sive re­sume by be­com­ing a club life mem­ber.

Sex­ton was awarded the sta­tus at the Cats se­nior pre­sen­ta­tion awards evening last week for her ex­ten­sive com­mit­ment to the club both as a coach, player and ad­min­is­tra­tor.

She started play­ing for the Cats in 1990, and amassed a to­tal of 240 games, in­clud­ing 200 A grade games.

She coached ju­nior teams for 10 years and se­nior teams for eight.

The mid-courter won five best and fairest awards in 1991, 1993, 2005, 2006 and joint win­ner in 2014, and also was the run­ner-up in 1997, 2007 and 2010.

She was a co-or­di­na­tor of the ‘Net, Set, Go’ pro­gram for five years, which helped many of the younger play­ers of the club de­velop their skills.

Sex­ton spent many years as a com­mit­tee mem­ber be­tween 1990 un­til 1998 and again from 2004 un­til 2012; she served as netball pres­i­dent in 1992.
