Association locks in permanent meeting

Berrigan District Development Association has decided to change its meeting time and place to a permanent fixture.

The BDDA will now hold its meetings at the Berrigan Sports Club on the fourth Wednesday of every month except for December.

Before last Wednesday’s meeting the BDDA was meeting every fourth Tuesday at either the Federal Hotel or Royal Hotel, alternating between the two venues.

However, every third month it would meet on the fourth Wednesday at the Berrigan Sports Club.

The BDDA unanimously agreed that the past schedule was confusing for business owners and individuals.

Co-secretary Carla von Brockhusen said the new time would make for less confusion.

‘‘Originally moving around was aimed at supporting local business, however it became very confusing for people. A permanent venue which also supports the community club seems like a better option.

‘‘The only variation form the fourth Wednesday rule is that the December meeting would fall after Christmas so we are holding that one early, on Wednesday, December 20,’’ Ms von Brockhusen said.

Also discussed at the meeting was the appointment of a new treasurer, which should be confirmed soon.

The new treasurer will replace Megan Leach who has moved to South Australia.

The next BDDA meeting will be held November 22.
