Fashion at its finest
The Berrigan Cup race day isn’t all about horse racing, it’s also a chance to dress to your best.
And what better way to show off your best dress or suit than by entering in Fashions on the Field.
Fashions on the Field at the Berrigan Cup has produced some excellent winners in the past — most notably was Sally-Anne Mallyon who went on to win Fashions on the Field at this year’s Caulfield Cup.
All prize winners at Berrigan win a sash and win a share of $2000 and sponsor packages.
The guest judge this year is Paris Bonat, proprietor of Mint Boutique in Yarrawonga.
Ms Bonat said she’ll be very particular in her judging.
‘‘With over eight years experience in fashion I’ll be looking for style and originality, attention to detail and stage presence,’’ she said.
If you’re still looking for a dress or suit to wear, then Sue Hill at Murray Hut Clothing in Finley can sort you out.
‘‘We have a great range of bright and pastel colour which is perfect for spring racing season,’’ she said.
‘‘And nobody wants to go to the races without a beautiful fascinator in their hair and new handbag.
‘‘For the men, get a new shirt and tie and don’t forget a hat is very fitting to make you look like a professional punter.’’
Fashions judging will take place between races three and four.
All entrants must register at the Parade Stand between races one and two. There will also be fashion experts scouting the crowd for selection. Judging categories are: Young Miss Racegoer (ages 12 to 16); Young Mr Racegoer (ages 12 to 16); Best Dressed Gent; Lady of the Day; Local Lady of the Day (residing in Berrigan Shire); Best Hat; Best Dressed Couple.
