New role for Sus­san Ley

Fed­eral Mem­ber for Far­rer Sus­san Ley has a new role fol­low­ing last week’s lead­er­ship spill.

New Prime Min­is­ter Scott Mor­ri­son has as­signed Ms Ley as As­sis­tant Min­is­ter for Re­gional De­vel­op­ment.

Ms Ley an­nounced her new po­si­tion at the wa­ter cri­sis rally in De­niliquin on Mon­day, say­ing she was pleased to rep­re­sent the gov­ern­ment on an is­sue she is pas­sion­ate about.

Ms Ley said the new role would also ‘‘give me the heart to talk wa­ter’’.

The reshuf­fle has also seen for­mer Agri­cul­ture Min­is­ter Barn­aby Joyce brought back to the fore, as the gov­ern­ment’s Spe­cial En­voy for Drought As­sis­tance and Re­cov­ery. David Lit­tleproud re­mains Min­is­ter for Agri­cul­ture and Wa­ter Re­sources.
