Finley face fierce rivals
An undermanned Finley B grade netball side will have to play at their best this weekend with a home game against Deniliquin in week one of the Murray Netball League finals.
Finley finished third on the ladder earning them the double chance in finals. The Cats won 13 games for the season losing four and drawing once.
The Rams have comfortably beaten the Cats on both occasions this year winning by seven goals in round one and more recently by nine.
Finley will be out to avenge last year’s loss in the grand final, where Tongala made light work of them winning 49 to 22.
Finley netball president Sasha Wood said it will be a tough ask for the B grade side.
‘‘Deni are always a strong side with many experienced players.
‘‘They’re similar to us with many junior players already playing senior grade netball.
‘‘We will be without Helene Steward but our key players will be Ally Rourke across the back half, plus mid-courters Tiarna Burke and Holly Robinson.
‘‘The B grade side had a good season and won a few comfortable games.’’
Wood added it will be important for the side to win to avoid a potential match-up with Moama.
‘‘The Magpies are the best side in A grade so they have a strong B grade team as well.’’
