Close knit Cats ready
Finley’s Under 13s have been a close knit core group of seven players this year with the inclusion of two players from the club’s 13B side for the finals.
The Cats have worked hard at training all year and it is showing at the pointy end of the season with all of the girls’ fitness and skills improving in leaps and bounds during the season of 2018.
They have had some mixed results in the last few rounds of the season with a big loss, a hard fought five goal loss and then an outstanding 31 to 1 win against Tungamah in the final round.
The girls’ hunger to win a final will be burning inside them as none of the girls on the team have played in a winning final in their short netball careers.
Their dedication to the game should see the girls play in plenty of finals not just this year, but also in the years to come. Player profiles: Jordan Gray (GK/GD): Cool, calm and collected at the last line of defence, her tight defence has come ahead with her constant hard work.
Morgan Evans ( GD/GK): Since switching from attack this season Morgan has taken on the GD position with great ease. The defence combination improves with each game.
Alyssa Denny (WD): Most laidback member of the team, Alyssa just goes about the playing her role and supporting her teammates, her strength being her defensive pressure over the ball.
Jasmine Burke (C): Runner-up in the league Best and Fairest this pocket rocket mid courter reads the play incredibly well for her young age. Her intercepts can turn the game and frustrate the opposition.
Meg Marshall (WA/WD): Determination must be Meg’s middle name. This mid court dynamo has worked hard to improve all aspects of her game this season.
Sienna Burke (GA): Incredibly accurate shooter from anywhere in the ring, her work rate is first class and many opponents have struggled to keep up with her explosive pace.
Amiliah Miaoudis (GS): Millsy, as she is known to teammates, is the quiet achiever with a quick swing pass over the ring. Her decisions in the ring are timed beautifully while working with her teammates.
Josie Coombs (GS/GA): Joey is always wearing a smile no matter what. Her calm quiet movements often leave her open for a pass under the ring which is rarely missed.
Daisy Daniel ( WA/WD): This midcourter works hard in both attack and defence to pressure her opponent. Her fight to pull in a loose ball is inspiring to the team.
