Triples tour­na­ment suc­cess

Fin­ley BC The Mark II Au­to­mo­tive Triples at­tracted 14 teams and all play­ers en­joyed the fa­cil­i­ties pro­vided — fast greens, good op­po­si­tion and good ser­vice from staff mem­bers.

The win­ning team com­prised Alan Vinecombe, Lau­rie Vinecombe and Ophe­lia Cochrane with three games + 46 points; r-up with 21⁄ games and 40 shots were Graeme Chubb, Ron Pent­land and Ash Haines.

The club ap­pre­ci­ates this spon­sor­ship and thanks the play­ers for their sup­port.

The Ladies Trade Day is well es­tab­lished and pro­vid­ing good op­po­si­tion. Heather Tabe, Sheila Walsh and Lyn Bergmans were run­ners-up again, this time at Nathalia.

Sun­day morn­ing com­pe­ti­tion was won by Betty Robert­son and Bob Poore with plus 10 shots.

The fi­nan­cial state­ment for the fi­nan­cial year 2017/18 is avail­able at the club. The AGM has now been set for Tues­day, Oc­to­ber 9 start­ing at 7pm. All mem­bers are in­vited to at­tend and wel­come to make rec­om­men­da­tions to the new board.

Pen­nant com­pe­ti­tion is rapidly ap­proach­ing and all bowlers in­tend­ing to be con­sid­ered should have added their names to the list of avail­able play­ers. The open­ing round is Oc­to­ber 12 and 13. It is hoped that all play­ers have an en­joy­able sea­son.

Ladies so­cial triples win­ners were Jill White­side, Beryl McFar­lane and Val God­kin in her first so­cial roll-up.

Our team of Effie Ea­ton, An­drea Brown, Judy Harvie and Sheila Kufner un­for­tu­nately came up against an in­form Co­bram team who will now progress to the Cen­tral Goul­burn Mur­ray dis­trict sec­tion of the Bowls Vic­to­ria State Ladies Fours event.

The next few weeks will be busy with more state events, pen­nant and our club board events get­ting un­der­way.

A num­ber of mem­bers will be head­ing off to Alice Springs this week to com­pete in the Alice Springs Masters.

Bare­foot Bowls starts with a warm-up game on Mon­day — don’t for­get Day­light Sav­ing starts this Sun­day so make sure your clocks are on the right time to be at the club by 5.45pm for a 6.30pm start.
