Beach fire dam­age lim­ited de­spite an in­creased risk

Po­lice al­lege a small group of youths was re­spon­si­ble for a small fire on Town Beach in Tocumwal on Mon­day night.

At 6.45pm fire crews were called to the lo­ca­tion and quickly ex­tin­guished the fire.

With the bush fire sea­son be­ing called a month ear­lier in Ber­ri­gan Shire due to the dry con­di­tions, po­lice say it was lucky the dam­age was kept to a min­i­mum.

They say the po­ten­tial for the fire to spread was a con­cern.

Po­lice said a wit­ness re­ported see­ing a group of younger peo­ple flee­ing from the site.

Eggs thrown

Eggs were thrown at a Fin­ley prop­erty on Satur­day morn­ing, caus­ing dam­age to an awning.

The dam­age was found about 7.30am in Tocumwal St.

It is be­lieved the eggs were thrown some time af­ter mid­night.

Theft from kitchen

Brand new kitchen ap­pli­ances pur­chased for a home be­ing ren­o­vated in Ba­rooga, in­clud­ing a dish­washer, have been stolen.

The new kitchen items were placed in the home about 4.30pm on Oc­to­ber 1, and were gone at 7am the next day.

Po­lice say the prop­erty was va­cant at the time of the theft.
