Southern Riverina news - - RURAL OUTLOOK -

Voting is open for WoolPoll 2018 and eligible woolgrowers have until November 2 to make their vote count.

WoolPoll is a vote by woolgrowers to determine what percentage of their wool income they’d like to contribute to the future funding of research, development and marketing for the industry through Australian Wool Innovation over the next three years.

WoolPoll Panel chair and South Australian mixed farmer Sydney Lawrie encouraged woolgrowers to vote as soon as they receive their voter information kits.

‘‘The kits containing the ballot papers, voting instructions and voter information memorandum have been sent in the mail,’’ Mr Lawrie said.

‘‘There are five levy rate options for woolgrowers to consider — 3%, 2.5%, 2%, 1.5% and 0%.’’

You can vote online at, by post or by fax.

All Australian woolgrowers who have paid wool levies totalling $100 in the past three financial years are eligible to vote.

At a time when wool prices are on a sustained high, Mr Lawrie said it’s never been a more important time for growers to have their say on the levy rate.

‘‘It’s your wool, your choice, so please vote,’’ Mr Lawrie said.
