Finley BC The Murray Bowls Division pennant season for 2018/19 will start this week on Friday and Saturday.
Finley’s number one side in the weekend pennant has been promoted to Division Two as a result of being premiers in Division Three last season.
Division Four were unlucky last season but will be stronger for the coming contests.
Teams carefully chosen to represent the club for the opening round are as follows:
Finley’s Division One in Midweek Pennant travel to Cobram with cars to leave at 9am on Friday: Nan Smith (s), Ash Haines, Betty Robinson, Gail Welsh; Heather Tabe (s), Lyn Bergmans, Sheila Walsh, Lesley McKellar; Tracey Miles (s), Karl Bergmans, Nola Wood, Betty Boyd.
The Weekend Pennant Division Two side play Tocumwal at home on Saturday: A Haines (s), B Mison, N Smith, G Welsh; S Johnson (s), T Miles, B Robinson, B Anderson; D McKellar (s), G Close, A Cowan, R Koschel; G Trevorrow (s), H Tabe, B Poore, L McKellar.
Division Four play Tocumwal at home on Saturday: K Bergmans (s), L Bergmans, N Wilson, G Pyle; B Wike (s), N Barnes, R Wood, H. Taylor.
Sunday morning bowls is attracting more players for regular competition.
The winning combination this week was Ash Haines and his brother Brett Milsop (Sydney). Consolation prize to Ray Wood and Nan Smith; Norm Barnes and Lesley McKellar.
The Men's 100 up pairs event, dfp with three bowls, will include all male players.
The draw has been made and is on display on the notice board.
Matches can be played to suit the players.

Berrigan Over 35 people pitched in over the weekend for the combined Golf and Bowls working bee – a great result on a weekend where there were two other community working bees in town.
The Burke-Bush green has been cored and topped up with sand and should come up a treat by the Jack McGrillen tournament at the end of the month.
There were 16 bowlers present for social bowls on Sunday.
The winners of the $10 club vouchers were Laurie Way and David Fox.
This week’s social bowls will start at 1pm on Sunday.
Congratulations to Laurie Way, Roger Reynoldson, Hardy Rennick and Alex Dalgliesh who will all make their pennant bowls debut this Saturday against Barooga Sports at home.
Friday pennant starts this week as well with Berrigan at home against Numurkah.
There are still a few bowlers who have not yet paid their 2018/19 bowls membership - make sure you pay before the season starts.
Twilight bowls starts on Thursday, October 11 at 6.30pm.
All bowlers and nonbowlers are welcome for a fun, social and relaxed evening.
The club raffles and members draw will take place immediately afterwards.
The B Grade Open championship will start on Thursday, October 18 at 5.30pm.
All registered bowlers are welcome to enter except those who have previously won the Men’s or Women’s Club Champion or B grade champion.
With the kind permission of the Curtin family, the winner of the event will be presented with the perpetual Bernard Curtin trophy.
There are still spots available in the Jack McGrillen Memorial two-bowl triples tournament on October 28.
This is a very relaxed event - enter a team and have some fun.

The combined Golf and Bowls Charity Day is on Sunday October 21.
The days consists of nine holes of golf — three person ambrose — followed by two games of eight ends of threebowl triples.
Proceeds will support Motor Neurone Disease and Drought Relief.
