Golfing fundraiser helps breast cancer research
The Finley Ladies Golf breast cancer fundraiser raised $1350 for breast cancer research and support, thanks to locals and sponsors who supported its charity event.
For the past 10 years Finley local Joanne Dean has organised the local golf day, which was held in August. The raffle was drawn a few weeks later.
‘‘We live in an ageing town and we need to continue to support breast cancer research,’’ Mrs Dean said.
‘‘The local businesses have been really helpful and supportive every year since we started.
‘‘Breast cancer has a huge impact on so many lives and it’s good to know the money is going back into a very worthy cause.
‘‘I want to thank Finley Quality Meats for their support and allowing us to draw the raffle in store.’’
At the golf day Kerrie Carlon won the stroke event, and runner-up was Mary Polkinghorne.
