Life mem­ber­ship for Mar­jorie

Con­grat­u­la­tions to Mar­jorie Kable who was one of 12 re­cip­i­ents to be hon­oured with Life Mem­ber­ship of United Hos­pi­tals Aux­il­iaries of NSW.

Mar­jorie and her two daugh­ters trav­elled to Syd­ney for the spe­cial oc­ca­sion the UHA State Con­fer­ence held at Bankstown Sports Club last week, where Mrs Kable was pre­sented with the hon­our.

UHA pa­tron Linda Hur­ley was in at­ten­dance to present the life mem­ber­ships and ad­dress the 230 mem­bers and del­e­gates present.

Mar­jorie has been a mem­ber of Finley Branch for 35 years and pres­i­dent for 16, she has worked tire­lessly for all as­pects of the branch and espe­cially the Op Shop.

The past year 190 NSW branches raised $11,100 and gifted $5,200 to their lo­cal health fa­cil­i­ties to pro­vide equip­ment and pa­tient care needs.

Finley Show So­ci­ety will be hold­ing its third an­nual Rose Show this Satur­day at the Bob Close Pavil­ion.

The roses are look­ing very nice at the mo­ment so this is a per­fect op­por­tu­nity to show off your favourites.

En­tries will be re­ceived from 9am un­til 10.30am with judg­ing start­ing at 10.45am.

En­tries are $1 each, ad­mis­sion is $5 with re­fresh­ments also avail­able for $5.

Anne Hawkins will be demon­strat­ing flower ar­rang­ing from 11am.

You are in­vited to bring your own flow­ers, fo­liage and vase and learn how to cre­ate a beau­ti­ful ar­range­ment.

The Finley Hospi­tal Aux­il­iary Shop will be cel­e­brat­ing their 80th birthday dur­ing the month of Novem­ber.

They will be shar­ing this mile­stone oc­ca­sion by of­fer­ing weekly spe­cials at the shop.

This re­mark­able achieve­ment will be­gin on Mon­day.

Call in and cel­e­brate with the Aux­il­iary and bag a bar­gain at the same time.

On Sun­day, Novem­ber 11, there will be no wor­ship ser­vice at the Unit­ing Church. In­stead mem­bers will be at­tend­ing the Ar­mistice Day Ser­vice at Dig­gers Park at 11am. All are wel­come.

The ladies of the Finley Save the War Memo­rial Hall com­mit­tee were out in force on Fri­day with the usual ar­ray of de­li­cious, scrump­tious bis­cuits, slices, jams and pick­les.

There was a lovely col­lec­tion of plants and crafts to be had espe­cially the rhubarb and lemons.

Their raf­fle for a $100 voucher to Hong Loch Chi­nese Restau­rant was drawn with the lucky win­ner be­ing Marg Maxwell.

Keep an eye out for the next two raf­fles be­gin­ning this Satur­day,

The first of these will be a $5raf­fle of­fer­ing two prizes of $500 of fuel with sec­ond prize be­ing $100 of fuel from the Finley Ser­vice Sta­tion of choice.

The sec­ond raf­fle will be $2 per ticket with the lucky win­ner re­ceiv­ing a $100 voucher for Daisy Mae’s Finley.

The Finley Save the War Memo­rial Hall com­mit­tee will once again be hold­ing the Com­mu­nity Mar­kets on Satur­day, in the School of Arts and the Finley War Memo­rial Hall from 8.30am to 1.30pm.

Any­one in­ter­ested in set­ting up a stall can call 0427 076 023.

Sev­eral vol­un­teers rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in to pre­par­ing the Finley Pool and grounds for the up com­ing swim­ming sea­son.

A job well done, the com­mit­tee wish to thank all who cam along and made the task so much quicker.

A re­minder the pool open Satur­day, Novem­ber 10 from 2pm un­til 6pm each day.

En­try to the pool is free to cel­e­brate the open­ing of the sea­son.

The RS Club hosted a fundrais­ing raf­fle for Can As­sist Finley, last Fri­day. The event was well at­tended with a ter­rific se­lec­tion of prizes be­ing of­fered.

The to­tal raised for the night was $655, for the branch to sup­port lo­cal peo­ple with their can­cer jour­ney.

The group would like to take this op­por­tu­nity to thank the RS Club and those who at­tended and of course con­grat­u­late the win­ners.

The Feel Good in Finley Health and Well Be­ing Expo is back again and it’s go­ing to be big­ger and bet­ter than ever.

The event will run over the week­end of Novem­ber 10 and 11, be­gin­ning each day at 10am un­til 5pm.

There are guest speak­ers and work­shops planned with most stall hold­ers com­ing from our very own Ber­ri­gan Shire.

Key pre­sen­ta­tions this year will fo­cus on nutri­tion de­men­tia, po­di­a­try, women’s health, mind­ful­ness and med­i­ta­tion.

Satur­day night will in­clude a spe­cial af­ter din­ner ses­sion fo­cused on emo­tional well­be­ing.

The af­ter-din­ner ses­sion is sched­uled for 6.30pm for a 7pm start.

The RS Bistro will open from 5pm to al­low peo­ple to have a meal be­fore gather­ing for the ses­sion.

The week­end is a fam­ily event with ac­tiv­i­ties for the chil­dren in a shel­tered area out­side.

Stall hold­ers have do­nated prod­ucts and vouch­ers for a raf­fle that will be drawn over the week­end.

Come along and make it a fam­ily ex­pe­ri­ence, ev­ery­one is wel­come, and we’ll see you in Finley.

Finley RSL sub-Branch wishes to ad­vise Mem­bers and the Gen­eral Pub­lic that the 100th An­niver­sary of the sign­ing of the Ar­mistice (Re­mem­brance Day) Novem­ber 11, will be com­mem­o­rated at the Dig­ger Park Memo­rial, Cor­ner of Dawe St & Don­ald­son St, form­ing up at ap­prox­i­mately 10.40am.

The next gen­eral meeting of the sub­Branch will be Wed­nes­day, Novem­ber 14 in the Finley RS Club Board Room com­menc­ing at 7pm.
