Life membership for Marjorie
Congratulations to Marjorie Kable who was one of 12 recipients to be honoured with Life Membership of United Hospitals Auxiliaries of NSW.
Marjorie and her two daughters travelled to Sydney for the special occasion the UHA State Conference held at Bankstown Sports Club last week, where Mrs Kable was presented with the honour.
UHA patron Linda Hurley was in attendance to present the life memberships and address the 230 members and delegates present.
Marjorie has been a member of Finley Branch for 35 years and president for 16, she has worked tirelessly for all aspects of the branch and especially the Op Shop.
The past year 190 NSW branches raised $11,100 and gifted $5,200 to their local health facilities to provide equipment and patient care needs.
Finley Show Society will be holding its third annual Rose Show this Saturday at the Bob Close Pavilion.
The roses are looking very nice at the moment so this is a perfect opportunity to show off your favourites.
Entries will be received from 9am until 10.30am with judging starting at 10.45am.
Entries are $1 each, admission is $5 with refreshments also available for $5.
Anne Hawkins will be demonstrating flower arranging from 11am.
You are invited to bring your own flowers, foliage and vase and learn how to create a beautiful arrangement.
The Finley Hospital Auxiliary Shop will be celebrating their 80th birthday during the month of November.
They will be sharing this milestone occasion by offering weekly specials at the shop.
This remarkable achievement will begin on Monday.
Call in and celebrate with the Auxiliary and bag a bargain at the same time.
On Sunday, November 11, there will be no worship service at the Uniting Church. Instead members will be attending the Armistice Day Service at Diggers Park at 11am. All are welcome.
The ladies of the Finley Save the War Memorial Hall committee were out in force on Friday with the usual array of delicious, scrumptious biscuits, slices, jams and pickles.
There was a lovely collection of plants and crafts to be had especially the rhubarb and lemons.
Their raffle for a $100 voucher to Hong Loch Chinese Restaurant was drawn with the lucky winner being Marg Maxwell.
Keep an eye out for the next two raffles beginning this Saturday,
The first of these will be a $5raffle offering two prizes of $500 of fuel with second prize being $100 of fuel from the Finley Service Station of choice.
The second raffle will be $2 per ticket with the lucky winner receiving a $100 voucher for Daisy Mae’s Finley.
The Finley Save the War Memorial Hall committee will once again be holding the Community Markets on Saturday, in the School of Arts and the Finley War Memorial Hall from 8.30am to 1.30pm.

Several volunteers rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in to preparing the Finley Pool and grounds for the up coming swimming season.
A job well done, the committee wish to thank all who cam along and made the task so much quicker.
A reminder the pool open Saturday, November 10 from 2pm until 6pm each day.
Entry to the pool is free to celebrate the opening of the season.
The RS Club hosted a fundraising raffle for Can Assist Finley, last Friday. The event was well attended with a terrific selection of prizes being offered.
The total raised for the night was $655, for the branch to support local people with their cancer journey.
The group would like to take this opportunity to thank the RS Club and those who attended and of course congratulate the winners.
The Feel Good in Finley Health and Well Being Expo is back again and it’s going to be bigger and better than ever.
The event will run over the weekend of November 10 and 11, beginning each day at 10am until 5pm.
There are guest speakers and workshops planned with most stall holders coming from our very own Berrigan Shire.
Key presentations this year will focus on nutrition dementia, podiatry, women’s health, mindfulness and meditation.
Saturday night will include a special after dinner session focused on emotional wellbeing.
The after-dinner session is scheduled for 6.30pm for a 7pm start.
The RS Bistro will open from 5pm to allow people to have a meal before gathering for the session.
The weekend is a family event with activities for the children in a sheltered area outside.
Stall holders have donated products and vouchers for a raffle that will be drawn over the weekend.
Come along and make it a family experience, everyone is welcome, and we’ll see you in Finley.
Finley RSL sub-Branch wishes to advise Members and the General Public that the 100th Anniversary of the signing of the Armistice (Remembrance Day) November 11, will be commemorated at the Digger Park Memorial, Corner of Dawe St & Donaldson St, forming up at approximately 10.40am.
The next general meeting of the subBranch will be Wednesday, November 14 in the Finley RS Club Board Room commencing at 7pm.
