Flower show a success
The annual Jerilderie Flower Show, held last Friday on a lovely Spring day, was a great success, taking over $4000.
The Civic Hall looked very inviting, with beautiful floral displays, lovely craft, baking and produce entries, a stage full of colourful children’s artwork, and a variety of interesting stalls to tempt the many visitors.
A delicious lunch was provided from around noon, and afternoon tea was served later in the day.
Children from the two primary schools and pre-school provided entertainment before the presentations of awards.
Major awards were as follows – Mary Simpson perpetual trophy Hazel Stonnill, Most successful exhibitor Roy & Beth, Champion rose Roy & Beth, Norma Rankin memorial trophy Mavis Dye, Keith Brew memorial trophy Janine A’Vard, Decorated Hat Chick Dallas.
Winners of the raffles were Glenda Brunt (hamper), Marion Palmer (coffee cups and fudge), Yvonne Teague (Le Reve candles), Lyn James (Christmas cake), Chris Ellis (sticky fingers), Yvonne Teague (cake stall).
Thanks have been expressed to the wonderful volunteers who work up to and on the day, community members who bring entries, the pre-school and school children for their lovely art work and musical items, and the people who come to support the day.
Tidy Towns Garden judging awards were announced at the Flower Show.
The list of winners included Barbie Hines (best new garden), Annette Kelly (most colourful), G& D Mills( best backyard ), Kay Huggins (best new backyard), Fairways B& B( best business ), Rural Fire Station (most colourful Government garden), Luke Park (neat & tidy Government), Greg and Carmen Lawton neat and tidy, Mike & Jenny Pitt (overall 2018).
