Pink Rib­bon Day a suc­cess

Jenny Tar­rant and Jean Wil­liams would like to thank all who par­tic­i­pated in the Pink Rib­bon Day in Fin­ley, ac­tiv­i­ties and fash­ion pa­rade. A lovely morn­ing tea and lunch was en­joyed by all.

A lucky door prize was drawn and won by Wendy Lane, the raf­fle for the $100 voucher to­wards a power bill was won by John Robin­son and a de­li­cious box of choco­lates went to J. Pratt. Con­grat­u­la­tions to the win­ners.

The ladies look for­ward to see­ing ev­ery­one again at next year’s Pink Rib­bon Day.

The Unit­ing church will be hold­ing its friend­ship morn­ing again to­mor­row Thurs­day, Novem­ber 8, start­ing at 10am and will con­clude af­ter a light lunch.

Last month pa­trons watched the movie Churchill, which was well re­ceived.

A sur­prise vis­i­tor on the morn­ing was Rev. Ter­ence Corkin, a for­mer min­is­ter, as he was trav­el­ling through and called in for a catch up and lunch.

Last week we held a suc­cess­ful street stall and raf­fle, the lat­ter be­ing won by Cheryl Body­coat. Con­grat­u­la­tions Cheryl and a big thank you to all who pur­chased tick­ets and goods from the stall.

A re­minder that we will not be hav­ing wor­ship at the church on Sun­day Novem­ber 11.

In­stead we will be at­tend­ing the Re­mem­brance Day ser­vice at Dig­gers Park.

Fin­ley RSL sub-branch wishes to ad­vise mem­bers and the gen­eral pub­lic that the 100th an­niver­sary of the sign­ing of the Ar­mistice (Re­mem­brance Day) on Novem­ber 11, will be com­mem­o­rated at the Dig­gers Park Memo­rial, cor­ner of Dawe St & Don­ald­son St, form­ing up at ap­prox­i­mately 10.40am to 10.45am.

The Fin­ley Pool com­mit­tee will be hold­ing its monthly meet­ing tonight at 7.30pm in the board room of the RS Club. All wel­come.

Don’t for­get the Fin­ley Hos­pi­tal Aux­il­iary Shop will be cel­e­brat­ing their 80th birth­day dur­ing the month of Novem­ber.

They will be shar­ing this mile­stone oc­ca­sion by of­fer­ing weekly spe­cials at the shop.

Call in and cel­e­brate with the aux­il­iary and bag a bar­gain at the same time.

The Feel Good in Fin­ley Health and Well Be­ing Expo is back again and it’s go­ing to be big­ger and bet­ter than ever.

The event will run over the week­end of Novem­ber 10 and 11, be­gin­ning each day at 10am un­til 5pm.

There are guest speak­ers and work­shops planned with most stall hold­ers com­ing from our very own Ber­ri­gan Shire.

Key pre­sen­ta­tions this year will fo­cus on nu­tri­tion, de­men­tia, po­di­a­try, women’s health, mind­ful­ness and med­i­ta­tion.

Satur­day night will in­clude a spe­cial af­ter din­ner ses­sion fo­cused on emo­tional well­be­ing.

The af­ter din­ner ses­sion is sched­uled for 6pm for a 7pm start.

The RS Bistro will open from 5pm to al­low peo­ple to have a meal be­fore gath­er­ing for the ses­sion.

The week­end is a fam­ily event with ac­tiv­i­ties for the chil­dren in a shel­tered area out­side.

Stall hold­ers have do­nated prod­ucts and vouch­ers for a raf­fle that will be drawn over the week­end.

Come along and make it a fam­ily ex­pe­ri­ence, ev­ery­one is wel­come, and we’ll see you in Fin­ley.

An­other great op­por­tu­nity at TAFE NSW Fin­ley is com­ing soon.

Start­ing to­mor­row is an In­tro­duc­tion to Build­ing Skills course, which will be de­liv­ered two days per week for six weeks from 9am to 3.30pm.

If you would like a ca­reer in the build­ing in­dus­try or just an in­tro­duc­tion to what that in­volves this course cov­ers mea­sure­ment, cal­cu­la­tion, lev­el­ling pro­ce­dures and use of con­struc­tion tools and equip­ment.

I must apol­o­gise to the Save the Fin­ley War Memo­rial Hall com­mit­tee, I mis­un­der­stood the raf­fle prize for the raf­fle which is now run­ning.

The first prize is $400 of fuel and sec­ond prize is $100 of fuel, the tick­ets are sell­ing at $5 each.

There is also a $2 raf­fle run­ning con­cur­rently for a $100 voucher at Daisy Mae’s.
