Fin­ley’s his­tory cel­e­brated

One of Fin­ley’s best lit­tle gems is cel­e­brat­ing 50 years this year and will mark the oc­ca­sion later this month.

The Fin­ley & Dis­trict His­tor­i­cal Mu­seum is invit­ing the pub­lic to share the oc­ca­sion and learn more about the his­tory of the town and dis­trict.

Mak­ing the oc­ca­sion just that lit­tle bit more spe­cial will be one of the foun­da­tion mem­bers Henry Math­e­son OAM help­ing to un­veil a plaque along with Mem­ber for Mur­ray Austin Evans.

Sec­re­tary Mau­reen Be­van said it was im­por­tant to cel­e­brate the town’s most vi­tal or­gan­i­sa­tions. ‘‘It’s a won­der­ful lit­tle place,’’ she said. ‘‘We’re en­cour­ag­ing peo­ple to come and have a look at what we do and learn about the town his­tory.

‘‘The cel­e­brat­ing is keep­ing in touch with the 125th Fin­ley an­niver­sary.’’

It prom­ises to be a fun-filled day for all with clas­sic car dis­play, trac­tors, ma­chin­ery, his­toric pho­tos, mem­o­ra­bilia and much more.

Bar­be­cue lunch is avail­able at a small cost.

The Fin­ley & Dis­trict His­tor­i­cal Mu­seum 50 year cel­e­bra­tion is on Novem­ber 24 from 10.30am un­til 3pm at the Mary Law­son way­side rest on Mur­ray St.
