Southern Telegraph - - News - Emily Sharp

A myriad of colour and talent will be on display this weekend at a new art exhibition.

The Rockingham Water Colour Society will host one of two free annual displays at the Gary Holland Centre from June 3 to June 5.

President Celia Allan said it would be a mixed-media exhibition with more than 40 entries to fill the walls of the centre, both downstairs and up.

“It’s a chance for our artists to show their work and we always encourage even our newest members to put something in,” she said.

“All artwork will be for sale with very reasonable prices and can make great gifts for birthdays and Christmas.”

The society also celebrated the 80th birthday of one of its most faithful members, Bob Carter, last week.

“Bob has been at the forefront of art in Rockingham for many years,” Ms Allan said.

“He is incredible, always helping others out with their artwork and is the most generous man I’ve ever come across.”

The RWC meets every Friday, with new members given a mentor and a wealth of information and support when they join.
