Emerg­ing snap­pers en­cour­aged to en­ter com­pe­ti­tion

En­tries for the City of Rock­ing­ham’s 2017 Act - Be­long - Com­mit Pho­toVoice com­pe­ti­tion are now open, with bud­ding pho­tog­ra­phers urged to sub­mit their pic­tures.

Now in its ninth year, the com­pe­ti­tion en­cour­ages ama­teur pho­tog­ra­phers to take a pho­to­graph and add a cap­tion about all the dif­fer­ent ways peo­ple can look af­ter their men­tal health.

About 400 pho­tos are sub­mit­ted each year, fea­tur­ing res­i­dents “act­ing, be­long­ing and com­mit­ting” in their ev­ery­day lives.

Pho­to­graphs need to il­lus­trate an as­pect of the Act - Be­long - Com­mit theme and can be en­tered un­der mod­i­fied or non-mod­i­fied styles, with cat­e­gories for peo­ple of all ages.

City of Rock­ing­ham Mayor, and long-time sup­porter of the com­pe­ti­tion, Barry Sam­mels said Pho­toVoice was a great way to dis­cover new tal­ent and il­lus­trate new ways for peo­ple to stay men­tally healthy.

“It’s al­ways great to see the pho­to­graphic tal­ents of en­trants dis­play­ing lots of dif­fer­ent ways to look af­ter our men­tal health,” he said.
