Flames sides fail to ig­nite

It was a dis­ap­point­ing week­end for both the men’s and women’s Rock­ing­ham Flames sides as they both lost dou­ble-head­ers against the Stir­ling Sen­a­tors and Wil­let­ton Tigers last week­end.

The ac­tion started on Fri­day night at Mike Bar­nett Sports Com­plex, with the Flames women fall­ing 67-73 to Stir­ling, while the men went down 64-66.

Star US im­port Chastity Reed was again the stand-out per­former for the women as she racked up 25 points and 10 re­bounds.

Fel­low US im­port Dono­van Jack col­lected 19 points and 11 re­bounds in the men’s open­ing de­feat, while Vinny Zollo scored 11 points and grabbed 10 re­bounds, with Ryan God­frey also scor­ing 16 points and pick­ing up five as­sists.

On Satur­day night, the Flames trav­elled to Wil­let­ton Bas­ket­ball Sta­dium, with the women fall­ing 78-55 in a one-sided con­test.

Reed was again the stand­out per­former for the Flames, scor­ing 24 points and grab­bing 11 boards.

In the men’s clash, the Tigers’ Julius Bowie and the Flames’ Zollo (23 points each) stole the show, but it was the home side who ran out com­fort­able win­ners 89-70.

Jack chimed in with 16 points and 11 re­bounds for the Flames.

Both Flames sides will jour­ney south to Bun­bury this week­end to face the South West Slam­mers on Satur­day night.
