Schools’ cash boost

Im­proved play­grounds are on the way for Bal­divis and Ber­tram pri­mary schools, and new shade for Sin­gle­ton Pri­mary af­ter each se­cured $25,000 fund­ing from the State Gov­ern­ment.

Bal­divis Pri­mary School prin­ci­pal Tom Burke said his school would put the money to good use for a na­ture play­ground and out­door mu­si­cal play equip­ment.

“Hav­ing ac­cess to ap­pro­pri­ate play­ground equip­ment at school ben­e­fits stu­dents by in­creas­ing phys­i­cal fit­ness, de­vel­op­ing mo­tor skills and in­creas­ing body strength,” he said.

Sin­gle­ton will be us­ing the fund­ing to build a new un­der­cover area for stu­dent play and to­wards the school kitchen gar­den.
