Pop­corn and pret­zel bars

Pop­corn makes the per­fect snack while watch­ing a movie. This recipe takes the pop­u­lar pop­ping plea­sure to the next level.

In­gre­di­ents: 12 cups plain popped pop­corn; 4 cups pret­zels; salt; 2 cups marsh­mal­lows; 2 cups white sugar; 2⁄ cup thick­ened cream 3


Line/grease a 22cm x 33cm bak­ing dish.

In a large bowl, toss to­gether pop­corn and pret­zels.

In a medium saucepan, bring sugar, ½ tea­spoon salt and ½ cup wa­ter to the boil. Boil, undis­turbed, un­til mix­ture is golden in colour, eight to 12 min­utes.

Re­move pan from heat and slowly pour in cream.

Im­me­di­ately add marsh­mal­lows, stir un­til melted.

Pour caramel mix­ture over pop­corn and pret­zels and quickly stir to coat.

Trans­fer mix­ture to dish and press evenly.

Sprin­kle with coarse salt if de­sired.

Let cool com­pletely be­fore cut­ting into 12 bars.
