Theft charges

TWO back­pack­ers who re­port­edly stole bas­kets full of gro­ceries have been tracked down and charged.

A su­per­mar­ket man­ager phoned po­lice to in­form them about the al­leged theft af­ter the pair left Wool­worths. The man and woman walked out of the store to­gether and got in a van al­legedly used in pre­vi­ous thefts. Po­lice iden­ti­fied the sus­pects and ar­rested them at work. They were charged and sched­uled to ap­pear in Stan­thorpe Mag­is­trates Court for this and other mat­ters.

A MAN, who was ar­rested at Thulim­bah on Tues­day, Oc­to­ber 31, was charged with steal­ing af­ter po­lice lo­cated him in a dwelling and seized items.

He was re­leased on bail and sched­uled to ap­pear in Stan­thorpe Mag­is­trates Court on Novem­ber 22.

A Stan­thorpe man rang po­lice to re­port 12 an­gora goats had been mauled by dogs be­tween Oc­to­ber 31 and Novem­ber 1 on his prop­erty. No dogs sighted on 50-hectare prop­erty but he sus­pected a pack of dogs was in­volved.

The mat­ter was also re­ported to South­ern Downs Re­gional Coun­cil.
