The dam issue
WE hear now from Tim Nicholls that he’s going to get busy, once he’s in the Premier’s chair, and build dams galore, starting in the deep north. Well, what an aspiration.
If he thinks he can deliver on that promise he better do some legislation repealing first. There is the pesky environmental laws that stifle any new dams being built in a hurry. Down here in Queensland’s deep south we have been waiting for near on 40 years and many millions of dollars spent and not a sod turned in the Emu Swamp Dam saga. Tim, will it ever get built if you become Premier?
Oh, goodness me, we wait on tippy toes each day to hear some new and wonderful promises from those who would lead Queensland into a “robust and fanciful” future. They must all think we are dummies. Well then again... — Jay Nauss
