Aus­tralians have many he­roes some of which are mil­i­tary per­son­nel. The

Vic­to­ria Cross is an award for acts of brav­ery in wartime and Aus­tralia’s high­est hon­our. One hun­dred Aus­tralians have been awarded the Vic­to­ria Cross.

Each year Re­mem­brance Day, Novem­ber 11, we ob­serve one minute’s si­lence at 11am, in mem­ory of those who died or suf­fered in all wars and armed con­flicts.

The Aus­tralian De­fence Force is the first in the world to im­ple­ment recog­ni­tion of Mil­i­tary Work­ing Dogs.
