GRANITE Belt Fitness owner Wally Lancaster has ensured there are no excuses left for locals to not exercise – the gym on 41 Railway St is now open 24/7.

In its seventh year, the fitness centre is now open around the clock with a state-of-the-art CCTV system ensuring the safety of costumers in unstaffed hours.

“We see it as a major progression of what we can offer people,” Mr Lancaster said.

“We are very happy with the equipment we have here and the space we have so the next logical thing where we can add a benefit to our members was to give them more access to the facility.”

18 months in the making, Granite Belt Fitness members can now exercise whenever they like.

“The main reason is to try to help people have more access to the gym and to try to space out our busy times,” Mr Lancaster said.

“By having access later at night some people can choose to come at later hours if they are finding it a little bit too busy at peek hour at 6pm. We have had plenty of people staying a bit

later, coming a little earlier and using the gym more on the weekend because there is more hours available in the afternoon now.

“It’s amazing how many people have come in the door and said ‘That’s great, we can now make it’. We do have people that work in some positions that do shift work. That suits them and gives them access to our facilities. More access, less excuses and hopefully better results for everyone.”

The multi-purpose gymnasium offers a large range of cardiovascular gear, strength training equipment and freeweights as well as a functional training area.

“We have 400 odd members who are from all sorts of life, all ages and demographics. They come at different times of the day for different reasons with different goals,” Mr Lancaster said.

“We have decades of experience in our staff with high level fitness, rehabilitation right through for different age groups. Anyone who joins the gym, takes a membership, has access to that help. We encourage everyone who joins to take up a free session with one of our trainers to create a program. That program is designed to help them progress, work on weaknesses, fix problems and help them reach their goals.

“We are always here to assist.”

Still providing a large amount of staffed hours, Mr Lancaster said the new opening hours had already helped more people be able to exercise.

“Everyone has been asking for it for a long time and it’s been quite appropriate for a lot of the younger people who are coming in later in the evening,” Mr Lancaster said.

“It has helped them and it’s definitely helped at peak hours.”

No joining or cancellation fees. Pricing is available online at granitebeltfitness.com.au.
