RAINY day for the show weekend cleared out for the monthly medal stroke event last Saturday to proceed. Although the field was down from other weeks, still enough for a close competition.
Two players returned the best score for the day, a nett 70, with the countback giving the win to junior golfer, Billy Webb, with Matt Waterworth settling for runner-up.
Billy's two nines were even, scoring 43 on each, but a costly double bogey from Matt gave the win to Billy by half a shot.
Annelle Batterham must be breaking in her new clubs winning the ladies' event with nett 77 with Kay Webb coming in second place with nett 80. Appreciation to our sponsor on the day, Dixon Homes’, Wes Smith.
Gross winners were Matt Waterworth with 75 and the ladies shared the balls with both Annelle and Nikki Waterworth returning 105 for the round.
Matt Waterworth also featured in the putting event along with the sponsor, Wes Smith, needing 27 putts for the round. Linda Kelly had least putts for the ladies needing 28 for the day.
Richard Reardon held the pin at 3 and Kev Rowling collected 17.
Ladies winner, Annelle had best approach for the ladies at 17 and all other pin shots remained unclaimed, as did the birdies nest at 15.
Bill Pyne held the pro-pin at 1/10, Matt Waterworth at 9/18 and Wes Smith at 5/14.
In the run-down, a ball each to Greg Fraser, Wes Smith, Aaron Simmers, Alan Kerr and Nikki Waterworth.
Helen Jones received a ball that Keith retrieved from a rabbit hole, not a rabbit out of a hat.
Good to see that players were in attendance in ample time for their tee off spot which made the starting of the competition go very smoothly. Next Saturday is a single stroke event sponsored by Simon Shannon. Tee off from 11.30am and the time sheet is on the board.
