Scarborough Revitalisation Update
Works are progressing well to revitalise the Scarborough foreshore. During winter, new paving was laid outside shopfronts from Zambreros to the Rendezvous Hotel entrance. Balustrading for some of these businesses is being re-installed to ensure alfresco areas are ready as the weather warms up. The road between the Scarborough Beach Road roundabout and Peter’s by the Sea is nearing completion and is set to reopen by early October. Works will then get underway on the road between Peter’s by the Sea and the Manning Street roundabout. More information on traffic changes will be released soon. The Esplanade remains closed to all traffic between Peter’s by the Sea and the Coles carpark. Drivers can access Coles and other stores from West Coast Highway, heading northbound, or via Brighton Road and The Esplanade. Northern upper and lower carparks remain open and can be accessed via Manning Street. Upgrade works in the far northern lower carpark are almost complete and due to open soon. Works continue on the southern lower carpark. Temporary parking is available on Brighton Reserve (near C Breez Kiosk) while works go ahead. All works are on track to be completed in time for the return of the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships in April 2018.
