BAL­CATTA Vol­ley­ball Club took out club cham­pion award at the 2017 Vol­ley­ball WA Din­ner on Satur­day. Club vice-pres­i­dent, women’s su­per league coach and men’s su­per league player Cameron Dall re­ceived an award for the most valu­able in­door player. Dall said af­ter fac­ing sig­nif­i­cant chal­lenges in the 2015/2016 sea­son, the club had turned around be­cause of strong lead­er­ship from club pres­i­dent Mitchell Collins. “Over­all it is a mas­sive achieve­ment for the club, with nine Bal­catta mem­bers in the women’s side also mak­ing the WA Pearls squad and six Bal­catta mem­bers in the men’s WA Hor­nets squad with the Aus­tralian Vol­ley­ball League start­ing in Oc­to­ber,” he said. PHANTOMS had a con­vinc­ing 6942 win over Clas­sics (1) in the Perth Net­ball As­so­ci­a­tion open divi­sion 1 preliminary fi­nal at Matthews Net­ball Cen­tre on Satur­day. The win­ners now play City Beach Surfers (1) in the grand fi­nal this Satur­day. In the ju­nior divi­sion 1 com­pe­ti­tion, Methodist Ladies' Col­lege (1) will play Clas­sics (1) in the grand fi­nal af­ter beat­ing CBS (1) 4333. St Hilda's (1) will match up against Clas­sics (2) in Year 78 divi­sion 1 com­pe­ti­tion af­ter beat­ing CBS (1) 60-46.
