New centre for all ages

INDOOR SOCCER SET TO BOOM

Stirling Times - - SPORT - Kristie Lim

TWO soccer players and housemates drew inspiration from their passion for youth sport to open an indoor football centre in Osborne Park for junior and social players.

Co-owners Reece Vittiglia, of Sorrento Football Club, and Floreat Football Club’s Dean Evans launched The Football Centre (TFC) on September 23, which offers junior sport clinics, individual training for all ages and social soccer tournaments.

The centre has the same synthetic football pitch that is used by Chelsea Football Club’s academy.

Vittiglia said the centre aimed to facilitate the Perth football community.

“It has been an idea that has been in the back of our heads for a long time and it started with individual footballers at a much smaller capacity,” he said.

“We don’t want to tailor it to just youth coaching; we offer programs for kids as young as two years old all the way up to professional footballers who want to work in an individual environment.

“Not only that, we host social five-versus-five games, which seem to be really popular so far.”

Evans said he wanted to provide influential coaching to players as young as two.

“We want to spend big on it to maximise everything, especially being footballers ourselves,” he said. “We want boys to be able to wear their boots so it is more realistic to when playing outdoors.

“The program is more your fundamental movements, getting kids active and socialising with their parents.”
