Bright future for the Sea Eagles

SCARBOROUGH Sea Eagles Year 12 football team co-coach Craig Greaves says his players will graduate into playing colts football at amateur or WAFL level after winning back-to-back premierships last month.

Greaves said the boys’ win over Ocean Ridge could not have been achieved without the club and community’s support.

“The boys were obviously very excited and satisfied after the grand final, as they set themselves the target of going back to back at the start of the year, which requires a lot of dedication, team work, camaraderie and focus over a long period to make it come to fruition,” he said.

“There are two of us that coach the side and we couldn’t be prouder of how they conducted themselves on the field throughout the year and their never-give-in attitude and team spirit, which was never more evident than the grand final, when they managed to defend a small lead under extreme pressure.”

Greaves said the most important thing for the players was to enjoy whichever route they decided to take.

“I think the majority of the team intend to play colts with the Scarborough Amateur Football Club next year.

“However some will be playing WAFL colts and one of the boys has been nominated to attend the AFL State draft combine this month,” he said.
