Silky smooth faces

Stirling Times - - Sport - Neil Atkinson, The Surf Boardroom

SWELL trackers had forecast 10 days out for a cyclonic super swell to hit the Perth coastline last weekend.

I for one was less optimistic considering the miserable lack of waves we endured this summer.

Nonetheless, we stayed glued to our screens watching the purple swell monster slowly fade to orange with each passing day.

As we got closer to the so-called super swell weekend, hopes were fading fast and we looked destined to be hoaxed again; but wait, what was that – a couple of swell lines rolled into Scarborough Beach at last light on Saturday night. Could this be it?

Sunday, March 25, will be remembered as an epic day for all surfers in Perth.

Apart from the swell, we will remember the silky smooth wave faces and the gentle offshore breeze that caressed the ocean all day.

As for myself, two surfs on Sunday doubled my quota for the year.
