A CAR dealership in Osborne Park has received a two-year extension to build a $16 million 10-storey showroom and office building.

The Metro North-West Development Assessment Panel recently approved the extension for the Barbagallo Motors site on the corner of Scarborough Beach Road and Frobisher Street.

The panel originally approved the plans in July 2016, giving the owners two years to substantially start redevelopment works before approval would lapse.

However, a report said construction had not started due to “depressed market conditions” and the owners were waiting to get a building permit from the City of Stirling.

The panel agreed to extend the approval to July 11, 2020. Plans for the 4667sq m site remain the same as those approved in 2016.

The car sales premises will be demolished and the site redeveloped into a 10storey mixed use development.
