More room coming on freeway
WORK is starting to ease congestion on the southbound lanes of the Mitchell Freeway.
Premier Mark McGowan and Stirling MHR Michael Keenan announced last week work was starting to widen the southbound lanes from Cedric to Vincent streets.
The project will create about 7km of extra lane to provide four continuous lanes on the freeway from Erindale Road to Vincent Street.
The State Government has contributed $8 million to the $40 million project, with the rest funded by the Federal Government.
Mr Keenan said it would fix major bottlenecks on the freeway and significantly shorten travel times during morning peak.
Brisbane-based BMD Construction will deliver the works.
