Markets’ day in the sun

THE Scarborough community is ready for a spectacular first summer at the revamped foreshore.

The Scarborough Sunset Markets will flow from the purpose-built Scarborough Square down to the amphitheatre, providing more space for people to explore the global food village, browse stalls, enjoy games and activities, or relax and enjoy the sunset.

Adding to the magic of the markets will be a nightly sunset celebration dubbed the Scarborough Sunset Applause. Modelled on association member Bett Fisher’s experience of a European tradition, the initiative encourages people to celebrate the sunset and erupt into applause once the sun meets the horizon.

The markets and applause will launch on Thursday, November 1, with markets running from 5pm to 9pm until April 25.
