THE YEARN TO BURN

-

WE MAY have only just fully recovered from the recordbreaking horsepower party that was Summernats 30, but Summernats 31 will be upon us before we know it, and early indications are that it’s going to be a beauty!

More then six months out from the event, the Summernats office has been a hive of activity, processing no less than 600 preentries! If you’re quick, you can still get yours in for only $150 before the 1 June price rise. When you consider that’s a mere 10 bucks more than a general admission season pass, you’d be mad not to.

Meanwhile, the Burnout Masters field is starting to take shape, with almost half of the qualifying events having been run and won. From the Summernats 30 Burnout Masters, we have reigning champ Steve Nogas in KILLA-B, along with Leigh Mackenzie in LUXURY, Rick Fuller’s LSONE, Colin Byrne in SEWERSIDE, and the people’s champ, Andrew Lynch in his infamous Ls-powered Corolla, LYNCHY.

From the Burnout Championship at Summernats 30, Anthony Page gets a start in PAGEY, along with Tim Brown’s CEMBLO, and Peter Grmusa’s newest toy, the F-DIS F100.

We’ve got Gazzanats WA coverage from page 50 of this issue, with the qualifiers from that event being Matthew James in UNWANTED and Matthew Hughes’s MON5TA.

Lardner Park Motorfest saw Justine Mott in GEMSKID and Fred Watson in FEAR get the nod, while Sam Surace qualified in his MADSAM Capri at the Big Skid $10K Burnout Classic.

Most recently at Burnout King at the Perth Motorplex, Kevin Mantach in ALCOTRAZ, Matthew Purnell in BLACKOUT, and Jason Tanian in KENOATH all added their names to the list.

There are still plenty of opportunities to score a Burnout Masters berth, so for your chance to bang tyres with the best in the business at Summernats 31, get along to a qualifying event, and bring your A-game!
