The new pace setter
Ah, Jaguar. The very name conjures images of classic drop-top sports cars, luxury limousines and race cars piloted by dashing drivers.
So what’s this? An SUV with a Jag badge? Yes, the famous British marque has hopped on the hottest bandwagon in town by offering an all-wheel drive high rider: the F-pace.
But really, it’s the car Jaguar had to make. Penned by the same designer responsible for some of the most spectacular Aston Martin and Jaguar sports cars of the last two decades, the F-pace oozes presence, class and the impression of speed.
Will any be used off-road? Of course not, but the new Jaguar SUV will be the latest must-have for stylish school run mums, joining the likes of SUVS offered by Porsche, BMW, Mercedes and Range Rover.
The F-pace looks expensive, doesn’t it? But a drive away price of price of $83,990 for the 20d Prestige diesel looks fine value indeed. You can pay over $120,000 for the range topper which hits 100kmh in just 5.5 seconds, but all F-paces offer leather interiors, as you’d expect in a Jaguar.
Such is the cachet of the Jaguar brand, the starting price and the unquestionable style, the F-pace is set to be Jag’s best seller in Australia in no time at all. I have always loved jaguars – I love their style and simple elegance – also my father and brother drive them, plus I already owned an XKS and have kept it for my long work trips into country NSW when I load it up with equipment and product. I think the F-type has a sexy profile. I enjoy the manual version of my car to drive to and from work, as well as to the oval where I run several times a week. It also has plenty of understated power on the open road. I would definitely recommend this car to others.
