GET WALKING IN WINTER
Have you heard of the winter blues? This is also known as Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), which can cause overeating, lethargy and inactivity, and lower your mood.
These symptoms are also risk factors for heart disease, which means keeping active in winter is all the more important.
Queensland state coordinator for Heart Foundation Walking Anna Campbell said being active on a regular basis is important for maintaining both good physical and mental well-being.
“Winter can be hard to get motivated to head outdoors, but knowing you can keep track of your walks either in a group or as a virtual walker, or both, is motivation enough for most people to put on their shoes and get walking,” Anna said. It’s free to join Heart Foundation Walking.
