Toowoomba Christ­mas Tree Fes­ti­val at Mid­dle Ridge Unit­ing Church from Wed­nes­day, December 6, un­til Fri­day, December 15, is a gift to the peo­ple of Toowoomba and sur­round­ing ar­eas.

It was es­tab­lished to re­mind vis­i­tors of the real mean­ing of Christ­mas and to cel­e­brate the birth of the Christ Child, Je­sus.

Nu­mer­ous Christ­mas trees are dec­o­rated in line with a theme adopted by the com­mit­tee and dis­played with some de­scrip­tion of the thoughts in the mind of those dec­o­ra­tors.

The theme for the 2017 fes­ti­val is Mu­sic of the Na­tiv­ity.

Com­mu­nity groups, fam­i­lies and in­di­vid­u­als are in­vited to dec­o­rate one or more trees in line with the theme.

Vis­i­tors are in­vited to do­nate a gold coin on en­try, the pro­ceeds of which are then passed to a de­serv­ing com­mu­nity re­source.in 2017, pro­ceeds will be shared evenly be­tween City Women and Kairos Prison Min­istry.

A pro­gram of Christ­mas-type mu­sic is held each night and morn­ing of the fes­ti­val.

As this is the fifth and fi­nal year the fes­ti­val will be held at Mid­dle Ridge.

Or­gan­is­ers are ap­peal­ing to groups in the com­mu­nity to con­sider tak­ing on the fes­ti­val from 2018.
