LIGHT TOUCH

GET THIS WINTER’S RADIANT, DEWY SKIN WITH THESE PAMPERING PRODUCTS

Sunday Herald Sun - Body and Soul - - BEAUTY BAG -

Forget last winter’s velvety matt skin – the new winter skin is light-diffused and dewy. Imagine perfectly concealed skin, but with a reflective quality, like you just got caught in a light misting of rain. It reminds me of the look MAC make-up artist Sam Correy created for the Seventh Wonderland show at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week. “I wanted the girls to look as though they’d been drenched in therapeutic waters, not the sun,” said Correy.

Skin can get dull and sluggish in winter, so how do we capture radiance? First we need to overhaul our skincare regime to get skin glowing. “Dewiness ultimately comes from hydration,” says Laura Pritchard, Guinot managing director. She advises switching to a milky, cream-based cleanser and adding hydration-targeted products such as serums under your moisturiser. Next, add a hydrating mask for instant dewiness and an illuminating fluid under your foundation for an angelic finale.

This season, skincare products are bursting with radiance-boosting, light-diffusing qualities. So try these for super-hydrated skin with covetable, snow-kissed brightness.

1 Revlon

Age Defying Spa Face Illuminator,

$29.95, 1800 025 488 This gives an instant sheer glaze to skin. The applicator brush is firm and smooth, so doesn’t leave pesky brush marks and it gets into nooks and crannies. It gives a flattering, light-diffused, bare-skinned glow on its own, but it’s also excellent over foundation for highlights.

2 Chanel

Hydramax+ Active Moisture

Mask, $79, (02) 9900 2949 Pop a luxe moisturising mask on weekly in winter and your skin will thank you. One of the best is from Chanel’s new Hydramax+ Active range. You only leave it on for 10 minutes and your skin will truly be soft and glowing afterwards. It helps restore the natural skin barrier with cottonseed oil extract and protects against dehydration with rose wax.

3 Clarins

White Plus Whitening Soft

Aqua-Milk, $70, (02) 9663 4277 My winter secret is swapping my zingy summer toner for a softening milk like this. Soak a cotton pad in this silky lotion and wipe over your face for a supple finish to skin. It gives a rosy glow with raspberry and vitamin C and brightens skin to snow-white perfection with alchemilla extract.

4 Antipodes

Grapeseed Butter Cleanser,

$46, www.antipodesnature.com Your best investment for divine skin this winter is this cocooning, buttery cleanser. The organic cocoa butter formula is packed with antioxidants from vinanza grape, an extract from sauvignon blanc grapeseeds from New Zealand’s Marlborough region. Massage in, remove with a warm washcloth and your skin will literally bounce with softness.

5 Napoleon

Perdis Auto Pilot Napoleon Complex Skin Renewal Serum, $79, (02)

8595 0911 Napoleon Perdis knows complexion perfection begins with skin, so he’s created a sophisticated serum with Aussie berry extracts, tripeptides and active sugar molecules to brighten and repair. “Now you can prep your base like never before,” says Perdis. 6 Guinot

Radiance Renewal Cream, $126, 1300 300 954, www.guinot.com.au Add a rejuvenating vitamin C product to your skincare regime in the sluggish winter months.
