Freelance journalist Melissa Field wrote this week’s My Story (page 8). This winter, she is enjoying “homemade pumpkin soup. Add some hot buttered toast or, even better, crumpets, and winter is almost tolerable” and her favourite places in the world are “London for the friends and shopping, swimming at any of Sydney’s northern beaches, Melbourne with a coffee in hand or at home, sitting on the balcony with friends and family on a sunny day”.

Brisbane-based freelance journalist Denise Cullen is close to completing her psychology degree and wrote our feature on ways to treat depression (page 6). During the colder months she loves “curling up in front of the fire with a good book and a glass of wine, and toasting marshmallows over a backyard fire with my two sons”. Her favourite indulgence is “daggier and more dated than Sex And The City’s cosmopolitan, but on a beach holiday, I still enjoy sipping a pina colada poolside”.
