Now there’s no excuse for saying ‘no’ when your other half asks for a massage. You’ll get just as Zen as they will, a study by researchers at Northumbria University in the UK shows. They studied 19 couples who did a three-week massage course and found both giving and receiving a massage reduced stress and helped them cope with life’s ups and downs. “Massage can be a simple and effective way for couples to improve their physical and mental wellbeing while showing affection for one another,” lead author Sayuri Naruse says.
