WANT TO SHED KILOS? FOCUS ON YOUR FOOD

Sunday Herald Sun - Body and Soul - - NEWS -

It’s Sunday morning, so chances are you have a coffee in hand and a piece of toast hanging from your mouth. However, if you’re trying to lose weight, you need to give breakfast your undivided attention. That’s the finding of new research by North Carolina State University in the US. Professor Carolyn Dunn studied the impact of mindful eating over a 15-week period. Half of the participants were told to eat without any distractions, pay attention to how their food tasted, notice hunger and fullness cues, and plan their meals, and the other half were given no instructions. The mindful eaters lost an average of 1.9kg, while the others lost just 0.3kg. This is certainly some food for thought for potential dieters.
