Sunday Herald Sun - Escape - - Holidays For Seniors Feature -

TAKE an amazing journey on the PS Murray River Queen as it cruises the majestic river.

From the prehistoric limestone cliffs with their reminders of the ancient inland sea to the Dreamtime of our earliest inhabitants; through the roaring days of the inland paddlesteamer trade, right up to the locks and weirs and irrigated vineyards of today, the only constant is the rugged beauty of the Australian bush and the bird and wildlife.

Built in 1974, PS Murray River Queen combines the charm and romance of a bygone era with all the modern comforts of today.

She provides a range of ensuite accommodation from traditional cabins for the budget-conscious, through to executive cabins and state rooms.

She also has a large dining room, aft lounge, two bars, alfresco dining area, communal lounge and sundeck.

The PS Murray River Queen offers people of all ages and backgrounds an opportunity to experience the breathtaking Murray River environment, view the local wildlife and sample the best regional wine and food on offer.

All meals are included in the price.

The international chef on board is renowned for his ability to transform the fabulous local produce into a delicious and mouth-watering menu.

Also included in the price are live entertainment every night, a guided tour of Cobdogla steam museum, guided ecological tours, wine tasting and wetlands walk at Banrock station, talks on the Murray paddlesteamer history by the captain and secure locked parking for your vehicle.

The PS Murray River Queen departs from the historic fruitgrowing town of Waikerie, about two hours drive from Adelaide or 2½ hours from Mildura. There is also a regular bus service from those locations to Waikerie. The company can organise travel arrangements to and from Waikerie.
