Senior travellers are spoilt for choice
YOUNG at Heart Holidays offer mature-age travellers an extensive range of diverse holidays to many parts of Australia, including destinations in every state and territory as well as Norfolk Island and New Zealand.
Since 1989, thousands of satisfied customers have enjoyed Young at Heart holidays, with many returning annually (or more frequently) to enjoy the Young at Heart style of holiday – ‘‘ pack your bag, we’ll do the rest’’ says it all.
Some of their customers from 22 years ago still travel today and have clocked up more than 30 trips.
The holidays are designed for senior travellers – most in their 70s and 80s – and therefore require a relaxed pace of travel with a minimum of fuss.
The fare covers everything, there are absolutely no extras to pay along the way, with all transport, accommodation, all meals, including morning and afternoon tea, and admission to attractions, cruises, tourist trains etc – whatever is in the itinerary is included.
Also included is metropolitan home pick-up at the start of all holidays, as is home ‘‘ drop off’’ on conclusion.
In addition, all Young at Heart holidays are fully escorted with a friendly, knowledgeable and helpful tour escort or coach captain.
A maximum of 20 passengers, and an average of 12 per departure, makes for friendly travel and personal service.
Young at Heart offers several distinct holiday styles. In recent years ‘‘ stay-put’’ holidays have become popular, ranging from five to 10 days and based at one destination.
Short stay-put holidays of five or six days include destinations close to Melbourne including Sanctuary House in Healesville, RACV Resort, Inverloch, Gateway Inn at Wangaratta in the northeast, and Sebel Deep Blue at Warrnambool on the Shipwreck Coast.
Among the stay-put destinations for 2011 are Clare Country Club in South Australia’s Clare Valley, and Hotel Sands at Narrabeen, just north of Sydney.
Ten-day stay-put destinations include the popular Shoal Bay Resort at Port Stephens, flying to and from Newcastle; Harbour Lights Hotel in Cairns; Cullen Bay Apartments Resort in Darwin; Shoal Bay Resort in Hervey Bay; Catalina Resort at Maroochydore; Quality Resort at Sorrento Beach, Perth; and RACV Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast. These are relaxed itineraries, with day trips starting about 9.30 or 10am and returning midafternoon ,with one day free.
Again, metropolitan home pick-up and all air fares are included.
Traditional ‘‘ coach holidays’’ range from eight to 19 days and include Queensland Inland Explorer, Queensland Coastal Delights and Queensland Tropical Splendour, West Australian Wildflowers and West Coast Explorer, Across the Nullarbor, South Australia’s Eyre and Yorke peninsulas, Kangaroo Island and Flinders Ranges, Central Australia, Ghan, Top End and the magnificent Kimberley – all feature stunning scenic delights.
Young at Heart also offers special event holidays, such as the Renmark Rose Festival, Canberra Floriade Festival, Spring Garden Spectacular, Christmas and Easter destinations and short trips to outstanding musical events, including Opera in the Alps and Opera in the Market.
In 2011, a new musical event, Opera in the Caves, at the Naracoorte Caves will open in February and feature Opera Scholars, Australia – ‘‘ operatic stars’’ of the future.
